Maps & Mimics

SmartScan software can be easily configured to give you a visual representation of your monitored area including value and status displays. This is especially useful in larger facilities with multiple sensors or when you need a quick overall snapshot of your facility.

Maps (sometimes called “mimics”) are easily built on top of virtually any type of Windows-supported graphics file (BMP, GIF, PNG, SVG, JPG, etc.). Use an existing drawing or photograph for the map background, or one can be
produced using numerous drawing or CAD packages. Create your map in three easy steps.

  1. Use the map editor application from the SmartScan server to create your maps.
  2. Specify links to the database.
  3. Upload the map and make a permanent resident in SmartScan.
The following indicators are available for use with maps:

Status Displays

  • Color matches current alarm condition of a single or Group of points.
  • Hover over the indicator – displays status of linked points.
  • Clicking takes you to the Group Status Page.

Value Displays

  • Uses the units of measure and decimal location specified in the point’s Sensor Type.
  • Background color also indicates current alarm condition.
  • Hover over the indicator – displays status of linked points.
  • Clicking takes you to the Group Status Page.
